The ideal time for newborn photography is within the first 5-14 days after birth. During this time, babies are super sleepy, easier to pose, and less likely to be disturbed. After two weeks, babies start to become more, which can make sessions a bit more challenging.
Newborn sessions typically last between 2-4 hours. This allows time for feeding, diaper changes, and soothing if the baby becomes fussy. I will never rush a session and want to ensure that you and baby remain comfortable and happy!
Sessions are done in either of my studios or in home.
I send out a prep guide about a week prior to your session to help you prepare properly!
It’s entirely up to you! I will always encourage it! Parents participating for the lifestyle sessions is a requirement. Parent/sibling participation for the posed session is optional.
I have a collection of props, wraps, blankets, and small outfits that I personally hand picked to go with the aesthetics of my newborn sessions.
Coordinating simple, neutral-colored clothing to keep the focus on the baby. I do offer a client wardrobe for the mother 🙂 Simple, neutral colors work best as they keep the attention on the baby. Soft tones like creams, whites, grays, and pastels create a timeless look. Avoid bold patterns, logos, or bright colors that can distract from the baby. These colours also work great for family sessions!
Your final gallery will be delivered within 2-6 weeks after you have chosen your images from a proofing gallery. The proofing gallery is a light edit, and final edits are done to the images you have chosen. The 2-6 week turnaround allows time to carefully edit and ensure each image looks perfect.
Absolutely! I send you an album with your finals that is specifically designed for sharing on social!
Crying is completely normal, and I’m used to it! My sessions allow time for soothing breaks, feeding, and changing. Although rare, there are times where baby cannot be settled, usually due to an upset tummy or another underlying issue. When this happens I have no problem rescheduling the session!
